Poole Park
About
If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy time with friends and family all year round and all day long, Poole Park is an ideal spot. Bordering Poole town’s magnificent harbour, Poole Park features 110 acres of parkland, large play parks, a saltwater lagoon and beautiful lakes, and is above all a wonderful place to make memories. It has been awarded one of 23 Green Flags in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area, recognising and rewarding well-managed parks and green spaces.
For those looking for a little bit of peace and serenity, the Rose garden and the new Quiet garden are ideal places to relax. If you are peckish, stop for a bite to eat in the cafe or restaurant or enjoy an ice cream or picnic overlooking the lake.
Poole Park lake is at the centre and is home to the various ducks and swans residing there. We highly recommend younger visitors to feed them with delicious grain or bird food and to save their bread for their own lovely picnic sandwiches.
If you are feeling active, walking, or running around the park to explore is recommended. En route, be sure to check out the ‘Interpretation’ features dotted around Poole Park. There are finger posts for navigating around the park, a variety of cut-out silhouette figures, postcard viewers and various information panels that talk about the park’s history, from flying boats to Victorian plant hunters, Olympic cyclists to the creatures in the lagoon!
The facilities at Poole Park include a fitness trail, tennis courts for hire, a bowling green where you can play and watch a match, or if you fancy, you can try your hand at crazy golf!
Taking part in a variety of watersports on the lake is another great activity idea. For those who fancy hiring a sailing dingy, or a pedalo perhaps, they are available from Rockley Watersports at Poole Park.
There are two large and very safe play areas for children with all the well-loved slides and swings. If wet weather hits, be sure to make use of the soft play centre where kids can burn off some energy. If you are feeling creative, check out the Pottery Studio here too, where you can paint your own masterpiece to take home.
Not forgetting the special attractions, why not catch a cricket match or watch the model racing yachts? Poole Park hosts a variety of events throughout the year – visit our what's on page, for a listing of events taking place in resort or keep an eye on our social channels!
Please note, vehicles cannot access the park between 6am and 10am.
